What made you want to begin this after-school project?

I have used book making in the class before with great success and thought it would make for good family work at home. I also have a community book arts partner and it was wonderful to have them help me prep kits for home deliveries.

What does an average day look like in your after-school project?

Everyone coming on Zoom (after frantically emailing me that they have lost the link). Families grouped together around tables with all of their supplies and smiles on their faces. Each session was a bit different but lots of laughter and sharing as we went.

How do the students like the project so far?

The students and families love the projects and appreciate the supplies to do them at home.

Anything else you would like to add about how your project is going?

Everything that we did taught them a skill or technique that they can use in other projects in the future. These classes were really an important way to make contact with whole families, especially important in a year like this one where we will not be holding any family events in-person at school. We really appreciated the support from Dry Creek.
